I agree with jdd on the pricing issue.

I was at an agility trial today and watched several Smack-Dab dogs. They did seem to be very biddable, nice dogs. Kathy Fay runs a training facility as Kim mentioned.

A friend in rescue owns a Dedo's Dobe, red male who is a nice boy. I do not know much about the breeder, though. There are usually several Dedo's Dobes out at obedience venues.

I'm not sure Cindy Storz is breeding Dobes anymore. I've spoken with her several times and she was always informative and helpful.

I know of many people that have Bruda Dobes and are very happy with them.

My dogs have day-cared with a Foxy Dobe, male boy. He's very handsome, but can be leery of things pretty easily (for what that is worth, I've only met 1 dog).

My boy Hogan's breeder shows a male of Mary Dependahl's. He's a nice boy, pretty drivey, good temperament.

I do not know what health testing is done by these breeders. Just passing along what little I have seen/know.

I know Harold & Roya (Kismet) well. They breed very infrequently, do thorough health testing. I watched a bitch they bred today at the agility trials (she's my "niece" ;-) ) and she is an awesome dog. Under the Doberman standard height-wise, but she's a bullet in agility. Great temperament. Roya & Harold are also very active in rescue, just good people all around. (Bleh, you've probably met Roya & Harold at adoptathons before).

Yea I know I have heard of them. I probably have met then but I can't put a face to them right now, lol. I didn't know she bred but I think I heard she hurt her back or something recently.

I know Wyatt went to a home with a nice Bruda girl.

Both Bruda & Smack-Dab are good breeders.
As far as pricing goes, I have a DPCA breeder to the west of me that sells her pets for $2500, and her show for $3500. The dam is not a CH but is health tested, and the sire is well known. You should not be paying show price for a pet puppy, but maybe her pet price is higher?

Mary is Ravenswoods. Ravenswood is Betty Clark. Confusing.
Mary's X-girlfriend, Pat, put the UD's on the dogs. They are no longer a couple and Mary isn't doing that sort of training.
Mary has a bitch that should have whelped by now. I have no clue who the sire is (it's not Blue though).

I heard that she just had a litter with 5 males last week.

Whaaa! 5 males. I know she told me who the sire was, but I forget. I wonder if she has homes lined up for that many boys?
I can find out if the OP is interested. I met the bitch and FWIW she was very friendly and wiggly. (this is not a professional temperament assessment) <G>

Illinois here too. I found a puppy after looking for 5 1/2 years. I am very picky about my Doberman. I know that the breeder that I got my puppy from has 1 bitch left. Her ear are crop and they are still posting like I am. her Dobes have Very good lines. And solid breeding behind them. I would like look at the pictures that I have post in here. My puppy is 4 months 47lbs now I am going to post a current picture tonight of me and him. He Dobe also had temperments as well and are very social. This breeder is also very picky as to who she places her puppies with as well. If you would like to email me private my email is RTEWELL@AOL.COM just put Doberman Interest in the subject. I also know of another breeder that has puppies on the ground now but I have not seen them yet.
