My sweet Pete lost his battle with DCM at 12:55am today. For the first time in many months all his boys (my 4 sons) were at home together. Our hearts and lives will never be the same again. We will miss him forever.
These are the last pictures of him from vacation this past week. He had a great time.
My heart goes out to you. I teared up when I saw the title. I have been reading your posts on his journey through DCM, and was hoping for much longer for all of you. Run free sweet Petey. Wishing sunshine on you always at the bridge.
Like everyone else....my heart sank too seeing this thread....I am so sorry and send my sincerest condolences. It's so wonderful he had such a good holiday and everyone he loved around him...special memories and lots of love, hopefully will be some comfort in your loss.
((((hugs)))))
I am so sorry for what you are going thru. It is always hard to believe they can look so well and happy with DCM and still be so critically ill. I guess that is a blessing because now you have those pictures to remember him by.
Sorry again.
Ahh...my heartfelt condolences Carol. We all know there is no good end to DCM and no matter how prepared you may try to be loosing a dog like Petey is just plain hard.
Go Petey, go where the good dogs go to run fast and free and be well...
Sent you an email, but just wanted to say here again how sorry I am to hear this news about Petey. Those of us who have been DT members long enough have so enjoyed the photos and stories of Petey that you shared with us.
I'll never forget the pictures you posted that chronicled him as he grew up from such a rambunctious pup into a handsome, reliable hiking partner. My favorite is still the one of him swimming in his raincoat in a lake! It makes me cry just thinking about it now.
In the grand scheme of things, what a blessing it was to have your entire family with Petey and Monty on such a wonderful vacation last week. I am so glad you took so many pictures, and Petey looks so vibrant and happy in them.
I am so sorry for your loss. May your wonderful memories of your beautiful boy bring some comfort in this difficult time.
