| 6 of 8 pups died in litter viewing tomorrow

new to this forum so please be patient.
We are off to see a litter we originally saw four weeks ago in preparation for the big day and bringing one home. I rang yesterday to let them know we were coming for an update on their progress and was told 6 of the 8 puppies had died, tragic.
The reason stated by the breeder was that the mother's milk had somehow made the pups ill; this being the bitch's first litter and totally unexpected. A post-mortem on one of the pups showed no issues so presuming the breeder has been through a nightmare till getting the diagnosis and removing the two surviving pups from their mothers milk.
Anyone know the diagnosis of the bitche's problem? Obviously very concerned for the remaing pups and any future health problems relating to being both exposed to the problem milk and being removed to be bottle fed.
Any points for discussion most appreciated. |
