At this point, thanks in part to the advice listed here (and in part to advice garnered elsewhere), I am going to go with an adoption of some sort. I just feel like I can "make a difference" for at least one dog that may not get such an opportunity otherwise. Plus, this way I won't be waiting on the Doberpup for long once I do get settled into a house!
