I definitely agree with the greyhound suggestion. They are such dolls and there are so many in rescues. They make great companions.

Carol has had weims in the past, so maybe she could give you some input? I personally would be afraid to have one in such confined quarters because they are very energetic. The same thing goes for boxers, but that's just me.

Are you dead set on getting a large breed? There are lots of small breeds that do much better in an apartment than large breeds do. Plus, with a little dog, you don't have to worry about as many restrictions for size and/or breed.
