I wouldn't ask for money either if it were my dog; it sounded weird to me that they are so worried about the money. This is why I'm just trying to get the dog away from them and get it into my own home where I know I will love it like my little baby. She does have papers and I'm not exactly sure what breeder she is from I just know that it is one in Ohio.
