I have no idea how much you should offer, 500$ is not a lot for a doberman pup from a breeder. Does she have papers? do you know which breeder? |
I know a lot of people reccomend charging an adoption fee. Many "free to good home" dogs end up being used as bait dogs or in lab research. If I every had to give up a pet and charged a fee, I'd donate it to the shelter or rescue or something.
But I agree, it shouldn't be much. In fact, I'd ask if I could just write the check to the local shelter as the adoption fee.
