^Yes, of course the possibility of pregnancy is a health issue but not a direct one: i.e. just because dogs are intact doesn't mean they will automatically become pregnant. Further, imho it should not be made a(the) main issue in the determination of whether or not to sterilise. Rather, the main factor *should* be the potential health benefits/risks of the pet itself that one is considering for sterilisation.
