I have to second reddobes. while I understand that dreamdoby is putting the article up to share with us, and it is up to us to believe the story, I personally think cold water is ok.

reasons are simple:
dogs' very close cousins, wolves, drink from streams and rivers in the wild. in winter, and in spring and autumn, the water in these natural sources are definitely chilly. I think if canines get bloat from drinking cold water, their chances of survival are pretty slim.

I'm also sure wolves munch on snow or chew ice in the middle of winter when no running water is available.. I doubt they develop bloat doing that.

returning to dogs, what about the thousands of people who feed their dog raw food, specifically raw frozen food, or even chilled food? what about frozen kongs, and the frozen ingredients in them (frozen eggs, PB, minced meats, vegge)?

also, I'm sure there have been thousands of people who have given their dobes iced water and ice cubes before, with no problems.

here in my country it is a perpetual warm humid summer all year round. while I give room temperature water most of the time, I do give iced water after a long walk/exercise/playtime or whenever it is extra hot. personally, I would think it cruel not to give cold water when the weather is so warm!!

but, these are my opinions. thanks for posting the story up. it is interesting.. it is a good reminder to be careful in whatever we do with/for our dobes. but on my side, I will continue to give my dobe icy cold water whenever it is too warm.
