| Strong women are becoming more of the norm. My best friend and her husband are both firefighters. She is tall but very slim, and dresses very girly on her time off. A lot of people crack jokes about her skills as a firefighter, never having seen her in action, just judging her by the way she looks.
Her husband loves to tell this story:
They both responded to a kitchen fire (they weren't married at the time). It was a small house and filled with smoke. Her husband came outside shortly after she did, gagging and choking, and eventually vomiting from the smoke. As he looked up from vomiting, he saw his partner, leaning against the truck smoking her cigarette. |
