As the puppy grows, you can move the divider to the next position to give more space, and finally move up to full-size. This gradual expansion is so that a very small puppy doesn't have a huge crate with lots of extra space where he can eliminate and still stay cozy dry and clean while he sleeps. It teaches them to "hold-it" and wait until they are let outside.
Thakoon is 12 weeks old now and I decided to just remove the divider all together. I think he likes the crate better now that he's got more room to stretch out in there. And he has yet to have an accident in his crate. YAY! |
