| Well, I am glad that Leroy was okay. It only takes an incident like that to make Leroy wary about other dogs at the park.
Ever since we were chased down by the loose Pitbulls in my neighborhood, my dogs are definitely more on alert if loose dogs run up to them when we are out walking. I had to yell at dumb Lab owners yesterday at this huge park....you can unleash your dogs way back on this power line trail and let your dog run. I generally let mine run one at a time for the chuck it ball.
Anyway, I could see the other dogs, so got Rexy back on lead real quick and was going to do a head to head pass by these Labs when I realized the owners did NOT have either one on lead and one of them was making a beeline toward my guys. The owners stopped in place but allowed their now unattended dogs to keep coming at us! I yelled for them to please catch their dogs, and they then started yelling at their dogs...who ignored them for a minute or two. Dogs were finally caught, we passed successfully and went separate ways. I hope I taught the owners a thing about public park etiquette....if passing other dogs, leash your dog and don't assume every dog wants a doggy playgroup while on lead and focused on their owner.
Okay, I got my rant out! Sorry to be so longwinded about this. Again, I am glad Leroy was unscathed. |
