| Ataxia/Wobbler Syndrome On friday night I let my Doberman out to go to the bathroom before we went to bed and everything was normal with her. I let her in 10 min. later and she could not walk straight, falling over, walking in circles, and unbalanced. I took her to our local emergency hospital and had blood work and ethlene gylocol tests performed-everything was normal, negative ethlene gylcol test. The next morning I took her to my regular vet and we set up an appointment for Monday to perform x-rays of her neck and spine and given rimadyl for pain. So far everything has been normal-eating, drinking, eliminating, she tries to play and run, but she is still off-balance and uncoordinated, not in pain as far as I can tell. Shotzy actually is more coordinated running than she is walking or getting up and when she shakes her head, she will fall over. I am not sure if Wobbler's is in her genetic background and she has never shown any symptoms of this syndrome. Has anyone out there had this problem or have any ideas about what is going on???? |
