Afternoon Julie - of course we felt unhappy about having to talk with the understanding owner of the doberman at our KOA. We do the same with rottweiller and pit bulls as well for the same reasons. We are dog lovers here both the owners and staff - but the public perception of these breeds unfortunately is what we are dealing with - never the individual dogs or owners.
In my conversation with our camper I never mentioned, nor would I, the insurance issue since that is not what this is about. As a matter of fact the gentlemen in question was very understanding about our position, thanked me for the conversation and we shook hands.
Thank you for taking the time to write and for reading my response. Do not judge all KOAS by the experience you heard about - we are all individually owned - but I would recommend you always mention with your reservation that you are bringing an animal with you and name the breed.

I replied that by their actions they are supporting breed specific legislation which means I will no longer support them and I will continue to spread the word to that effect.
