i work for a vet and i can definately tell you that you should leave that issue up to the vet. problems with the anal glands are more commonly found in small dogs and i cant really remember a time that we've expressed the anal glads in any dog larger than like 25lbs... lol. and if your dog has a problem with their anal glands, you'll know! anyways, dont worry bout it.. its like wat the other guy said, if it aint broke, dont fix it!
