Mine always lost some weight, but that tended to work out well for our female, who gained weight easily. We used to jokingly say that we were going on vacation and the dog was going to a "reducing spa" to get rid of that extra 5 pounds. Our first used to lose his voice and come home with a squeaky voice (not kennel cough), and all of them seemed tired and slept heavily in the car and at home for the first day or so, but then they were back to normal.
