berkdogg: my brother is a vet in NC - runs his own small practice. He scratches out an ok living, but he's been in business for years and by no means lives high on the hog from gouging all his pet-loving customers. Costs for everything have risen for veterinarians like everyone else. They have to raise their prices on services just to keep up. They have to pay employees a competitive rate to retain good help (you DO want a competent vet tech working on your dog, don't you?) So don't be too hard on the vets.

Now, IF government gets involved in the pet health industry, then I'm with you. Cost will go through the roof.
