Rosco HW update

Well I'm so glad we went to the veterinarian today, it's definitely given me a reality check. Unfortunately Rosco has a pretty heavy load of heart worms. His heart and pulmonary artery are quite enlarged. There is also a good amount of inflammation in his chest and his radiographs definitely showed the extent of his infestation. His blood work came back normal and we are waiting to hear back on his thyroid. For the next three weeks he will be on Prednistone, Doxycycline, and Viagra to clear that up and make him a better candidate for treatment. He's going to feel pretty crappy for quite some time, and I'm going to do my best to make him comfortable. Because he is heavily infected he will need to be treated more gradually so it's going to take about three months to get him back to being a dog. This gives me a lot of hope though, because I know he will be a completely different dog afterwards and he definitely deserves it. I'm very optomistic that he will pull through okay and so was Dr. Davis, even given his condition.
