I think back in the day, Iams and Eukanuba both used to be considered good foods. My parents used to feed our mini-doxi Eukanuba, and you couldnt just buy it anywhere, you had to get it at the vet or specialty stores. When they started selling it at Grocery Stores, etc......I think the quality went down. My dad stopped feeding it, and home cooked for her for the rest of her life. (She lived to be almost 21)

Iams is just kind of full of junk. I don't think it always was...but it is now. I would go to a better quality food. Depending on your budget, there is Canidae, California Natural, Solid Gold, Pro Plan.... I have heard that Purina One is very similar to Pro Plan, and it is less expensive and you can get it anywhere. I don't think it is quite as good, but honestly dont know I have never fed it.

I was an avid pro plan hater (based off of ingedients) for a long time, but I am feeding it to my dogs now, and they are doing really well on it.

I agree that I would buy a small bag of what your puppy is eating right now, and mix it in with the new food you are going to feed so that it doesn't upset his stomach.

My puppies are eating Pro Plan selects Turkey and Barley and doing really well on it.

Good luck with your new puppy.
