About the 24 hour euth...this is quite common in southern shelters that are absolutely overrun with dogs/puppies/kittens/cats this time of year. I have heard of some shelters that march the owner turn in's right to the gas chamber or euth room as soon as they come in. The owners are informed of this but many still sign them over. It makes me heart sick
It happens with owner turn-ins here, too. (WV)

Especially if there is any question on the dog's temperament, it often never sees the adoption floor, but instead goes straight to holding, to be euth'd either that day or the next, depending on a number of things.

And yeah, folks are told that, but still turn them over.

I volunteer at a municipal shelter, but have banned myself from working the front desk. Not enough bail money in the world...

If a transport leg for Lexi heads north, I can do part of it.

Please keep us updated, as you get info, thanks.
