| Thea2003, yes many of the "banned" breeders will try work-arounds such as you described, but the C/AKC simply needs to watch the lines -- deny registration to dogs from specific parents, regardless of who's doing the registering. That way, it also discourages people from buying breeding stock from kennels who're being currently sanctioned. Let the sanctions follow the dogs themselves, not the breeders, kennels or owners.
And yes, you'll always get a few people who will buy a puppy that cannot be registered. You can't do anything about that. But it will cut down those numbers. And it will certainly damage the financial viability of these kennels -- and that's why they're in business in the first place. Profitability in breeding is so often on the edge of the knife -- cut business by even 50% and most of these kennels will go toe up. |
