Unlike Advantage/Frontline, Revolution doesn't remain on the skin. It's absorbed, and then resides in the blood stream, so that when a parasite feeds, it ingests the chemical.

I've never heard any complaints about it. Just make sure you apply it correctly. Since it has to be absorbed, it MUST be applied directly to the skin, not the hair. So make sure you really part that hair.

I personally chose to use a separate topical product and monthly dewormer/heartworm preventative, because frankly, none of them do everything that I want. Ticks can host up to 200 different diseases, and a single tick can host up to 20. I wanted total coverage - ticks have a major 'eww' factor for me.
