| Java will do that after she has been for a long run on the hiking trail, over rocks and logs. Sometimes the black covering of the nail will fray a bit. I keep a harder emery board around and file it down, am worried that she'll peel that covering back (altho I don't even know if it's possible) and then we'll have a more serious issue to deal with (we all know how painfull a torn hangnail can be).
Could just be part of his grooming ritual. If the nails look ok, then maybe distract him with something else to chew on? |
