Mole Foam method of posting?

Has anyone heard of this being successful with a Doberman crop?

I know the link has been posted before. The site is specific to a Bouvier puppy, but there is a DPCA citation in blue at the top of the page. I also found the exact same method referenced for posting Boxer and German Pinscher ears. I'm just wondering if it would stand up to the long Dobie crops. I haven't heard any success stories...but I also haven't heard of any Dobie owners that actually tried this method. I'm just looking for first- or second-hand experience with it. I've already amassed drycleaning rods from my hangers, but am curious about other methods.

Here's a similar method, which uses popsicle sticks to strengthen the molefoam:
