Apollo just turned 6 months *sigh* but he's taught himself a weird new thing. We go for a walk every morning and evening. He does very well on leash and off, though he's always on leash when we walk around the neighborhood. He learned very quickly that he's not allowed to chase things that move, squirrels, cats, cars that sort of thing so lately anytime he sees something like this he will sit down until i tell him "walk". Should I allow this or do you think it could cause problems?
OOPS! I meant to put this in the other Obedience forum. My bad.
He is wonderfully behaved, some people don't believe he's only 6 months old. I would rather him sit there and wait than to try and rip my arm out to eat it. I'm just not sure if it could cause problems.
I'd turn it into a walking pause, as you catch up or are about to pass him praise him and say ok and keep moving. It should help turn it into more of a walking pause than a solid pause ans help avoid the possibility of him pausing to far/long.
I really wouldn't worry about it to much then. He may in fact grow out of it and if not its not a bad habit
