My Rush is a good example. His sire had been dead for about 10 years at the time his litter was conceived...
While there are times good breeders might use their own stud dogs, it's far more often a red flag to me if the sire is on the premises. Especially if the stud dog is bred to EVERY bitch the breeder might have.
